Athena Desktop is a personal desktop application. This policy explains how the application handles information when optional Google Gmail access is enabled.
After explicit Google OAuth authorization, Athena may access Gmail data necessary to provide email-assistant features, including message metadata, message content, threads, and information required to send email on the user's behalf.
Gmail data is used only to provide user-requested functionality such as finding messages, showing inbox summaries, preparing replies, and sending messages after user action. Athena does not use Gmail data for advertising.
Athena Desktop's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
OAuth credentials and tokens used by the desktop application are stored locally using the operating system's secure credential storage where supported. Athena does not require or store the user's Google password.
Athena does not sell Google user data. Data may be sent to service providers only when required to perform a feature explicitly requested by the user, such as AI-assisted analysis or drafting, subject to the configuration of the desktop application.
Users can disconnect Gmail from Athena at any time. Users can also revoke Athena's Google account access from their Google Account security settings. Locally stored application data can be removed by uninstalling the application and deleting its local application data and credentials.
Athena is designed to minimize requested permissions and uses OAuth rather than collecting Google account passwords. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
This policy may be updated when Athena's features or data practices change. The date at the top of this page indicates the latest revision.
For privacy or data-access questions, contact the support address displayed on Athena Desktop's Google OAuth consent screen.
